On the other side . . .
Dear friends and family,
Thank you all so much for your prayers. We have been in the US for three weeks now and we have already seen God work in so many ways.
Our flights to the US went smoothly and Jojo, our dog, made it safe and sound. All our luggage made it and we had a safe drive from D.C. to Ohio. Upon our arrival we had people telling us they had stuff for us to help us settle in. Two different families were cleaning out their parents’ things from their households and donated furniture and household goods. Our landlady gave us a carpet to use and offered their trailer and truck to help move furniture into the house. Our church has asked us each week if there is anything new we need to use or borrow until our shipment arrives. We have been brought to tears repeatedly at how God has provided so that we now at least have enough to cook with, eat, sleep and sit on. We still need a few things furniture wise, but we are in a place where we can take our time to shop sales and used furniture places.

God has also shown us provision in the relationships for us here. Our neighbors on one side have already developed into the beginnings of a good friendship. They have given us veggies from their garden, loaned us tools, and the youngest in the family, a six-year-old, often comes over to play and chat. The neighbors on the other side are a bunch of college-aged young men who have invited Matty over to hang out on occasion. The church has welcomed us well. Multiple families have invited us into their homes and have started to build or rebuild friendships there. Kylie has had multiple people reach out to give her leads for jobs in the area. Layla has started attending a young adult’s group at another church with her cousin and has started forming friendships there.
We miss Thailand, especially our family there, but we are so encouraged by how God worked to put us in the house we are in, with wonderful landlords and neighbors, given us a church that is working to help make our landing as soft as possible and even working to connect us with new relationships that are opening doors for us to share our ministry with their churches. We met a few people at a pastor’s conference that have invited us to speak, and we met some family members of a friend visiting from Thailand who connected us with their missions’ pastor.
We still have so far to go with raising support and finalizing all the details with the mission agency, but we are so encouraged and continue to trust that he will keep working out all the details and providing for our needs. We will be heading to Pennsylvania on Sunday to complete our week of Mission Orientation and cross that step off the checklist. Then we will begin pursuing connections so we can really begin fundraising.
Your prayers in this process have really been felt, and we appreciate them more than we can say. Please continue to pray for us as we move forward as God leads us. We are excited to start the next steps.
